The Woven Room

Internal working document · August 2026

The one rule

Rooms and objects can be made. People cannot.

No generated person, ever

Every prompt below produces a space, a surface or an object with nobody in the frame. A generated face is the loudest tell in imagery, and a woman who does not exist cannot consent to representing a real organization. Anything with a person in it comes from a real photographer at a real gathering, with permission recorded. A generated crowd on a nonprofit's page is the kind of thing that gets noticed once and remembered forever.

Settings that hold the look

  • Aspect: --ar 4:5 for feed posts, --ar 9:16 for stories, --ar 3:2 for web headers.
  • Style: --style raw so it stays photographic.
  • Consistency: once one image is right, reuse its seed with --seed so the set matches.
  • Generate four of each and keep one. The library needs range, not volume.

Filing what comes back

  • One folder, named by subject rather than by date.
  • Keep the prompt in the filename or a sidecar note, so a matching image can be made later.
  • Anything used publicly gets a line in CREDITS.md: what it is, how it was made, when.
  • Never mix generated images and real photographs in the same grid on a page.
Backgrounds and atmosphere

Six to start the library

These carry type well, which is what most of them are for. Keep the left or upper third quiet so a headline has somewhere to sit.

One · The room before anyone arrives

a private dining room in a restored historic building at dusk, round tables set for a small gathering, lit only by candles and a single warm lamp, deep aubergine velvet chairs, dark walnut floor, heavy linen curtains, brass details, one tall window with the last light behind it, most of the frame in shadow, editorial interior photography, shallow depth of field, no people --ar 3:2 --style raw

The hero. Web header and the anchor image the rest of the set matches.

Two · The table, close

overhead detail of a small round table at a candlelit gathering, cream linen, a folded ecru place card, a pen, a stoneware cup of black coffee, one lit taper candle just out of frame, dried plum-colored blossom in a matte ceramic vase, brass tray, warm low light falling from one side, deep shadow, muted plum and antique gold palette, editorial still life, no people --ar 4:5 --style raw

Feed posts. Leaves clean space top-left for a headline.

Three · Velvet and gold

extreme close up of deep aubergine velvet upholstery meeting an antique brass edge, raking warm light across the pile, visible texture and nap, very shallow depth of field, almost abstract, rich and tactile, dark and moody, no people --ar 4:5 --style raw

Texture tile. Quote cards, section breaks, the background behind a pull quote.

Four · Paper and thread

a single length of fine gold silk thread curving loosely across a sheet of heavy cream cotton paper with a deckled edge, soft directional daylight from the left, delicate shadow under the thread, minimal composition, generous empty space, warm ivory and antique gold, macro still life, no people --ar 3:2 --style raw

The literal brand motif as a photograph. Invitations, letterhead, the About page.

Five · The doorway

an open doorway into a warm candlelit room seen from a dark hallway, brass handle catching the light, warm glow spilling across a dark wood floor, heavy panelled door, inviting and quiet, deep shadow in the foreground, cinematic interior photography, no people --ar 9:16 --style raw

Stories and reels covers. The whole "welcome to the room" idea in one frame.

Six · Morning version

a private dining room set for a morning gathering, cream linen and pale ceramics, soft grey daylight through tall windows, dark walnut and aubergine velvet still present but lifted by the light, coffee service on a brass tray, one small vase of dried blossom, calm and unhurried, editorial interior photography, no people --ar 3:2 --style raw

The breakfast gatherings are morning, so the library needs light that is not candlelight. Same room, same palette, different hour.

If a person is needed

Shoot it, do not generate it

The shot list for Ashlyn

  • The room filling, wide, from the back.
  • Hands passing a card. No faces in frame.
  • A row of women listening, shot from behind.
  • Someone greeted at the door, in profile, backlit.
  • Two women still talking as the room empties.

Before anything is published

  • Written permission from anyone recognisable.
  • The photographer's name and the date recorded.
  • A member's face never used to advertise membership without her saying yes to that specific use.
  • Never crop at the ankles, wrists or any joint.
