Mission, vision and values

The spine the business plan is built on
Draft two · 11 October 2026

Why this exists now

The August wording was written for a different organization

The brand guide already carries a purpose, a mission and a vision. They were written in August, when this was going to be a charity funded by grants. Both of those things changed on 2 September.

So this is a rewrite rather than a first draft. The heart of it is unchanged, because the heart of it was right. What changes is that it stops sounding like a grant application and starts sounding like a thing the two of us own and run, which is what it is.

There are no values written down anywhere yet. That is the genuinely new work on this page, and it is the part that decides the most, because values are what settle the arguments the two of us have not had yet.

What stays
Cultivated belonging, the four pillars, the Woven Cycle, the emotional promise, and the rule that a funded seat and a paid seat are indistinguishable. Every bit of that survives the change of entity without needing to be edited.
What changes
The purpose, mission and vision are all rewritten below, grants come out of the funding language, and every one of the seven values is new work. On 11 October faith moved to the front: the mission and the vision lead with it, and it is value one.

A woman should not have to build alone because she did not know who to ask.

The whole thing, in one sentence

The three statements

Purpose, mission and vision

Three different jobs. The purpose is why we bothered. The mission is what we actually do every month. The vision is what the county looks like if we keep doing it for ten years.

One · Purpose

Why it exists

Women build faster, and further, in company.

This is the belief underneath everything, and it is the one line that should never need updating. It says what we think is true about how women actually get where they are going, and every other decision we make follows from believing that it is true.

It is short on purpose. A purpose that runs to a whole paragraph has quietly turned into a mission.

Two · Mission

What we do

The Woven Room gathers women who are building something into a room that leads with faith. We open every gathering in prayer and design the room around her, so every woman leaves with knowledge she can use and someone worth knowing.

Present tense, and faith comes first in it because faith comes first in the room. Every gathering opens with prayer and a short devotional, members bring prayer needs for their business or their life, and every speaker ties the business back to faith. The design is what we are charging for, and this sentence says both out loud.

Three words are load bearing. Faith sets the tone of every morning. Building keeps it open to the woman changing careers and the woman coming back to work, which the audience section already insists on. Designs is the promise, and it is the one a sponsor understands right away, without anybody having to explain it.

This is the sentence that goes at the top of the business plan, on the sponsorship one pager, and in your mouth when somebody asks you what it is at a party.

Three · Vision

Where it goes

A county where no woman builds alone, because a room that leads with faith was already waiting for her and she knew where to find it.

A vision has to be a place you can picture and a thing you have not achieved yet. This one is both. It also scales, because opening a second chapter changes one word of it.

Faith is in the picture on purpose. It is the first thing she meets when she walks in.

It quietly sets the growth test too. If a woman in Rutherford County who needs this still has not heard of us, the vision is not met, however good the room in February turns out to be.

The new work

Seven values, and the behavior that proves each one

A value nobody could ever catch us breaking is decoration. Each of these carries the specific thing we would have to do, or refuse to do, for it to be true.

One

Faith leads the room

This is a faith-led room, and faith comes first. Every gathering opens with prayer and a short devotional, any member can bring a prayer need for her business or her life, and speakers and workshops tie the business back to faith. We talk about God openly. It shapes how a woman is welcomed at the door, how we speak to each other, and what happens when one of us is struggling.

Proof: every gathering opens in prayer, breakfast and evening alike.

Two

She belongs before she contributes

Her place in the room is never earned through status, confidence, charisma or usefulness. Contribution comes after belonging, and it comes on its own.

Proof: no member is ever ranked, and she does not need a business to sit down.

Three

She leaves with something she can use

Every gathering hands her something she did not walk in with. A skill, a contact, a decision she can finally make. A morning can be lovely and still send her home empty handed, and we count that as our miss.

Proof: a speaker who moves the room and teaches it nothing does not get booked twice.

Four

The care is the luxury

Premium here means somebody thought about it. The chair, the light, how introductions happen, whether a first timer knows where to walk. It never means what the thing costs, and it never means shutting anybody out of it.

Proof: when money is tight, the spend goes to the welcome before it goes to the decor.

Five

We design it rather than hope for it

The good conversation is never left to luck. Pairings are made before the doors open, the questions on the table are written, and the follow up afterwards is a real system rather than a good intention.

Proof: every gathering has a seating chart built in advance, every single time.

Six

Experience circulates

The woman five years ahead is the curriculum. Mentorship here is women turning around and reaching back, which costs nothing and is the most valuable thing in the room.

Proof: speakers come out of the membership as often as they come from outside it.

Seven

In motion, never arrived

We ask a woman to be building, becoming, changing or beginning. We never ask her to have made it first, and we never imply that the women already in the room have done it either.

Proof: no title requirement, no revenue floor, and no application asking what she has achieved.

What this unlocks

Everything downstream was waiting on this page

The sponsorship conversation is the mission plus a number, and those calls are hard to start without a sentence you believe in. Any board or advisory specification we write later is these same values turned into a role somebody can hold. And the business plan opens with the mission, so it cannot really be written until this page is settled.

So this is the piece that was genuinely blocking, and it is why it came ahead of the venue and the filing.

  1. Read the three statements out loud. If the mission cannot survive being said out loud to a stranger at a party, it is the wrong one and it gets rewritten.
  2. Cut a value or add one. Seven is a choice rather than a rule. Any value nobody could ever catch us breaking should come off.
  3. Faith first. Read the mission and value one the way a woman who does not share our faith would read them, and tell me whether she still feels invited.

There is a place for you in the room.

Draft one, September 2026, rewritten from the August brand guide after the entity decision. Draft two, 11 October 2026, puts faith first.
Everything here is a draft to argue with.
