Thread Cards
One card per attendee. She writes what she can bring on one side and what she is
looking for on the other, then it sits face up at her place. It turns the opening question from
what can I get from you into where might we help one another, and it does that without asking a
quiet person to perform.
The print edition
Two inks on unprinted stock. This is the one to order.
Print specification
- Size
- 4 × 6 inches finished, supplied at 4.25 × 6.25 with 0.125in bleed. The background is unprinted, and the bleed exists for one reason: the Thread runs off both edges on purpose, so it needs somewhere to go when the guillotine drifts.
- Inks
- Two. Mulberry
#71344F and Antique Gold #B58A4A. Everything on the card is one of those or a tint of one.
- The paper is the ivory
- The background is unprinted. Order a warm natural or cream uncoated stock and the warmth comes from the sheet, rather than from a flat tint covering every square inch.
- Stock
- Uncoated, 100lb cover or heavier. Uncoated matters, because nobody can write on gloss with a normal pen.
- Cheaper still
- Two flat inks on bare stock can run as a 2-color job rather than full color. Ask for that price alongside the digital price. Spot gold also prints far better than gold built out of CMYK, which comes back muddy or slightly green.
- Pens
- A real pen at every place. A card nobody can fill in is a coaster.
The screen edition
The same card on plum, for social graphics, the website and slides. It is here because
it looks right on a screen, where ink costs nothing. It is not the one to print.
